was freed after a firefight between their captors and a rebel group. nearly two dozen members of a northern illinois university fraternity are facing charges in the death of a 19-year-old freshman. arrest warrants have been issued for 22 members of the fraternity. five of the warrants are for hazing. the other 17th fraternity brothers are facing charges for misdemeanor charges. the 19-year-old was found unresponsive at the frat house in november. the corners of his blood alcohol level was more than four times the legal limit which contributed to a cardiac arrhythmia. firefighters in new jersey had their hands full with a commercial building fire this morning. it was a seven-alarm fire at a building and the city of elizabeth. it houses an auto repair business. no word on what sparked the flames and there are no reports of injuries. still to come -- a new device could be the key to treating macular degeneration and we will have details coming up. >> just a few sprinkles are showing up on the radar right now but nothing major to worry about. the winds are picking up and the temperatures are as

investment in medical health related work has been made. beatrix hoffman is chair of history at northern illinois. she completed her ph.d. as everyone at my table did at rutgers university in 1996. she has written extensively on the history of american health care reform including a 2001 book entitled the wages of sickness, the politics of health insurance, in progress of america at the university of north carolina. in her talk today she is going to speak about her latest book, the book titled is "health care for some". i have the feeling it is relevant to our times. the talk is entitled health care for all, women, activism and women's right to health. this is a history -- her book rather and her talk today will be partly, a history of rights and rationing in the united states from the great depression to the present, and the book just came out by the university of chicago press. i have seen copies of it lying around. vile accounts, beatrix hoffman has simply nailed this big historical topic of to the present moment. i am going to read from the early reviews of the book just to give you

molina thank you very much. we begin with 5@5:00. three people killed a helicopter crash in northern illinois. crashed into a field killing the pilot and two flight nurses. a hospital spokesperson said patients were on board the helicopter. they were headed to the scene to try to figure out what caused that crash. he's the hero who died saving an american doctor from the taliban. the bepentagon has identified ts navy seal. he was killed during the rescue mission in afghanistan. his name is nicholas checque only 28 years old. he was part of navy seal 6. during the raid in afghanistan he moved quickly to a hut where doctor joseph was being held hostage. joseph was rescued but the young navy seal later died from those injuries. >>> a former general confirming the world's worst fear. major general cee-lo says he has no doubt that president assad will use chemical weapons as he tries to cling to power and crush the up rising that started a few years ago. the main chemicals are arsenal mustard and syran gas. they are trying to end assad's regime. >>> a man used the money to support pension
: a medical helicopter crash killed three people in northern illinois. the federal aviation administration reports the crash last night occurred traveling from near the wisconsin border to a hospital 60 miles south of there. the hospital officials say the helicopter was on the way to pick up a patient. the crew hit severe weather and attempted to head back and crashed. >> some of the coast guard's most important ships need serious upgrades because the vessels are in poor condition and declining. the military relies on the fleet for missions including captured suspected drug traffickers and search and recuse prayings and breaking through arctic ice. in bad shape and declining, like, well, fdr drive and every other road i am on. now, live to los angeles county, california. adam? >>reporter: every road in california is that way, as well, a multibillion dollar replacement program, the coast guard had if place to replace theships and is behind schedule. there are 11 missions from working in the middle east to breaking ice to running after the boats which california is seeing more significantly
's ushered in snowfall in places like chicago and northern illinois that have not seen snow for 290 days. that is a record. this imagery coming out of williamsburg, iowa, you may see two people kind of sliding on the ice as they are being blown across a layer of ice on the roadway by 60 mile-an-hour winds and then in ames, iowa, kevin says the visibility was down to about 100 feet and it's the heaviest snowfall they've seen so far this season but also the heaviest snowfall that they've seen since 2009. middleton, wisconsin, most snow since 2009. what happens in the next 24 hours, we're looking at this core of the system making its way into the northeast. still some snowfall expected here. some areas could pick up as much as a foot but the blizzard conditions, anderson, are going to be the worst. we could see the winds gusting up over 60 miles an hour. chicago right now, some snowfall being reported fog, reduced visibility, hundreds of flights canceled so far and probably into tomorrow. >> is it expected to slide over new england tomorrow? >> it is. it's going to move pretty rapidly. a fe
